Located within the Sacramento metropolitan area, Roseville has a population of about 141,000 people. The city started as a stagecoach station and then became the point where the Central Pacific and California Central Railroads met. It wasn’t until 1909 that the city was incorporated. Even after the railroad relocated, most people in Roseville were still employees of the railroad. In the 1970s and 1980s, several major companies, including Hewlett Packard, relocated to the area, creating more jobs. The city’s population nearly doubled between 1985 and 1990, and its expansion continued from there.
