There is something positively electric about the air at Keeneland Race Course. And when the fastest, most elite thoroughbreds in the country thunder down the Breeders' Cup racetrack on Halloween weekend, fans will be mesmerized. The stakes are high. With 14 Grade 1 races on the calendar — and a whopping $34 million up for grabs — all the horses and their connections will be literally jockeying to see who can perform best. Truly, there has never been a better time to take your RV to Kentucky and revel in the jaw-dropping scenery every step of the way.

ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT

Remember that activities in Kentucky — especially in autumn — will always depend on the weather. Don't forget to bring your rain gear and warm clothes on the trip. If the race gods are playing nice and the weather is beautiful, consider checking out the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary. Fortunately, one of the other great attractions of the area — bourbon — is available in all types of weather! The Town Branch Distillery is a great stop for those who want to learn more about the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Plenty of bourbon bars await in this area. Also, Keeneland itself can be a great place to tour. For equestrians and racing enthusiasts alike, few places offer more up-front access to beautiful horses than the Lexington area. When you need to refuel, many downtown restaurants are excellent options.

ON-SITE AMENITIES

If you're looking for amenities, you've come to the right spot! Visitors to Keeneland enjoy: • Free Wi-Fi throughout most of the park • Several dining rooms • First-aid stations • Family-friendly areas, including family restrooms and nursing stations • Accessible parking with golf cart assistance if needed • Access to guest services

If you're feeling adventurous, now's the time to hit up a bourbon room. • Day 2: Breeders’ Cup Friday You'll want to get to Keeneland with plenty of time to spare. The first post is going to be around 11:35 a.m., so you may want to think about getting breakfast at one of Keeneland's many dining rooms. With the final race taking place around 5:30, you are bound to have an action-packed day. If you've still got some energy, take a distillery tour before you head back to the RV and wind down. • Day 3: Breeders’ Cup Saturday Since today is the big championship, you'll want to allow for even more wiggle room when it comes to your schedule. With the first post galloping off around 10 a.m., consider grabbing breakfast at a local spot before heading into Keeneland. Mentally prepare yourself for the crowds — and the Halloween costumes! Once the final race wraps up, head down to The Burl for some live music if you still have a bit of gas in your tank. • Day 4: Explore Lexington One Last Time Before you set your compass back to home, take in a tour of one of the many local horse farms. If the weather is behaving, take a leisurely walk downtown and grab some lunch before packing up the RV.
