Initially I thought let's post and see what happens--after all it is free to create your listing. Then the requests started coming in and they have not stopped. I’ve already made $10,000 and counting.

I received inquiries within days of posting my listing, and this year I did close to $68,000 in bookings. The biggest benefits have been the cash-flow and meeting people from all over the Midwest.

Mostly I wanted to offset the cost of owning my RV so that I could keep it. I would highly recommend doing this. I have so enjoyed meeting the people who have rented my RV and feel as if they are now friends.

I wanted to make money so that I could keep my RV, and I have. I made $12,200 in 2015 and $7,300 already in 2016! The biggest benefits are the money and the people I meet. Go ahead and try it! It's worked really well for me! I love it!

My trailer was not being used as frequently as I would have liked. So we considered selling, however with no bites except for the low-ball offers I was looking for an alternative to selling.

From the first day of listing I had people inquiring on my RV, and I quickly booked my first four rentals. The best part is the extra income and seeing the happy families, especially with kids!

Common Questions

  • How does RVshare work?

RVshare is the largest peertopeer RV rental marketplace. We help RV owners rent their idle RVs when they aren’t using them. When you list your RV for rent on RVshare we will connect you with great people who want to rent your RV. This gives you the opportunity to start making some extra cash from your idle RV. When you sign up you’ll get access to our getting started guide: How To Rent My RV. This guide will walk you through everything stepbystep.

  • What if someone damages my RV?

While damage can occur it’s very rare. We find that because people are renting from a private owner instead of a big company they are very respectful and they tend to treat the RV just like it was their own. If there is damage to the RV the security deposit paid by the renter along with insurance should cover all repair costs so there’s no out of pocket expense for you the RV owner.

  • What does it cost to Rent My RV?

There is no cost to get started, you can list your RV for rent absolutely FREE. When a rental is booked through RVshare a small commission comes out of each booking to help cover the cost of running the website. The rental commission is as low as 15%. RVshare only makes money when you make money.

  • How does insurance work?

When you sign up with RVshare you’ll have an option to purchase rental insurance so you can rest assured knowing you’re always safe and secure. With rental insurance if a renter is involved in a collision in your RV you’re covered by a $1 million dollar liability insurance policy that protects you against claims from third parties. You’re also protected against physical damage to your RV, up to the actual cash value, for losses due to collision and most comprehensive causes (like theft or fire).

  • How do I get paid?

RVshare takes the pain out of processing payments. Our secure payment system handles all payments and security deposits, so you don’t have to worry about collecting cash from renters. RVshare releases the funds directly to your bank account one business day after the start of the rental.

  • How much will I earn?

The average RV owner earns more than $10,000 per year in extra income renting their RV. Some RV owners are earning more than $30,000 a year. The exact amount you will earn varies based on the type of RV you have and where you are located.

  • How much should I rent my RV for?

You have complete control over your pricing. As a new RVshare member you’ll want to look at comparable RVs in your area and price your RV similarly. Here’s some general pricing: Travel Trailers $75 to $175 per day, Class C $125 to $250 per day, Class A $150 to $300+ per day. If you need help with pricing we’ll help you find the perfect price to maximize your income.

  • What if someone breaks down on the road in my RV?

All rentals booked through RVshare include 24/7 emergency roadside assistance. If your renters need a tow truck or a tire change, we’ve got you covered.

  • Am I allowed to choose my renters and decline a rental request?

Yes! You are always in full control of your RV. Feel safe knowing that you can screen all renters and only rent to those who meet your requirements.

  • How will I communicate with renters?

Shortly after you list your RV for rent you will start receiving rental requests. We will notify you via email each time you get a rental request. You will be able to communicate with your renters through your RVshare inbox. If you would like to speak with a renter over the phone you will be able to do that as well.

  • Will people in my area rent my RV?

YES! We have more demand for RV rentals than anyone else. RVshare receives more than a million visitors every month to the website. There’s huge demand for RV rentals in all cities across the U.S. both big and small. Once you list your RV for rent you’ll start getting rental requests in no time.

  • What are the security deposit fees and policies?

When you rent your RV you’ll be able to set a security deposit for each rental. RVshare will collect the security deposit from the renter 48 hours prior to the start of the rental. RVshare will hold these funds until the end of the rental. If there are any damages the security deposit funds will be released to the owner to pay for the damages.

  • How does mileage work?

You will set your rental price to include a specific number of daily miles that will be included with the rental. Most owners allow 100 daily miles per day with their rentals. Any additional mileage will be charged a per mile fee. The average fee is $1.00 per mile for any mileage overages.

  • What kind of RVs do you accept?

We accept all types of RVs, Class A, Class B, Class C, Travel Trailer, Fifth Wheel, Teardrop, and Truck Camper. If you’d like to rent your camper there’s no better time to get started. No matter what type of RV you have you will be able to successfully rent it on RVshare.

  • Do I need a business license or any special contracts to rent my RV?

You do not need a business license to start renting your RV. You will need the following contracts when you rent your RV: rental contract, pickup and dropoff checklists. RVshare will provide you with these contracts when you sign up.

  • Will my RV expenses become tax deductible once I start renting my RV?

In most cases yes. There are income and tax advantages with renting your RV. You can write off depreciation on your vehicle and repair expenses. You will need to check with your accountant or tax advisor for specific guidance.

  • If I rent my motorhome out through RVshare can I still use it whenever I want?

When you rent your motorhome with RVshare you can still use it anytime you want. You’re always in complete control. Just mark off the days you are using your RV on your calendar so that you don’t get rental requests for that time. RVshare is all about helping you make some extra money renting your RV when you aren’t using it.
