Grey Towers National Historic Site
Overlooking the Delaware River, Grey Towers National Historic Site is a house that at one time belonged to Gifford Pinchot, who was the first ever director of the US forest service. Its architectural design is in a French style, which was a deliberate attempt to depict the family`s French origin. The house and its surrounding area cover a total of 102 acres. The area surrounding the house has great hiking and biking trails. Visitors are welcomed to visit this historic site 7 days a week. The Pinchot family donated this house to the US forest service in 1963, and since then the service has continued to manage it. Visitors also get to visit the Pinchot institute, which has numerous collections of his conservation work.
