Carmel Mission Basilica Museum: The stunningly magnificent mission in Carmel is a haven of serenity with flowery gardens and a thick-walled cathedral rich with artwork and relics from the Spanish Colonial period. Franciscan monk Junipero Serra founded the mission in the adjacent town of Monterrey in 1770.
