The trailer was comfortable and met our needs while camping however I experienced two blowouts on our trip to a family reunion in NM. By then end of the trip we replaced all four tires in two separate visits to tire shops. One tire was the existing spare and three was purchased. The owner has a contract with Big O tires so the first visit was there, however there are no Big O tire stores in Gallup NM so I went to a Good year store. The owner wasn't happy about that because the tires would cost a little more. He wanted me to put the old spare on and "limp" home. I very strongly told him that there was NO WAY I would attempt to travel another 6 hours with no spare and that the other two tires on the left were old and sun rotted and needed to be replaced also. In the end I purchased two new tires and put the old rotted tire on as a spare. I paid for it and was reimbursed. To make matters worse, while we were sitting in the second tire shop in 4 days I had three kids puking with the flu. I asked if there would be any consideration of refunding part of the rent payment for the trouble. His reply was "sorry". The trailer was returned a few hours late and he at first said there would be late fee. I couldn't believe it! After spending a total of 5 hours in tire shops fixing his tires that never should have left his place he was going to charge a late fee. After an extremely long day I expressed my shock but told him do whatever you want. In the end the late fee was not charged. It did seem that he was far more concerned in getting every dime the contract allowed him to be paid rather than providing a good rental experience. I would definitely not rent from him again.
Response from Arthur
We keep the trailer maintained and ready. Accidents and blowouts do happen. The renter admitted to speeding while towing on a pot hole heavy highway, which led to the blowouts. After the first blowout, Big O said nothing about the condition of the other tires so I assumed it was ok. The renter continued to speed on rough road. The renter was also over eight hours late in returning the trailer. This renter was looking for a fight, price reductions and parts for his truck from the beginning..
Owner was great to work with, RV was comfortable and fully stocked with needed items. My family of 5 loved it. Fantastic experience!
Excellent 5 star
Very nice unit. In a good state of repair for the most part. Owner was very amenable and nice to work with but...... I picked up the unit, no big surprises when I got there. I did notice the unit was very dusty, linen was very clean and smelled nice, but was surprised by the dust on stereo, shelves, counter, etc.
Owner guided me through all of the systems and unit was very well stocked with all of the things that you would think plus even some that you would not. It was noted that the toiled does not fill correctly before I left. Of course this was a problem all weekend.
Got out to campsite and had a great time (it was a dry site in the middle of the desert). 1.5 days later I am out of water!!! Unit has 60 gallon water tank, we had not showered and had only washed hands and done the dishes twice! What in the world? So after much consternation I hook up the unit and tow it to a local RV facility to refill the water tanks and dump. When I dump no more than 10 gallons came out!! It is my guess that the person who filled the unit THOUGHT it was full because they did not 'burp' the water fill. Ran the hose too fast and the vent cause an air entrapment. Water tank electronics showed full but it was not at all.
When I went to retract the slide I noted that only one side was moving, after further investigation I discovered that a bolt had fallen out of the drive shaft between front and rear pinion assemblies on the slide. Somebody had replaced this bolt with a bent piece of steel that had fallen out at the campsite. I had to replace said piece of steel in order to be able to retract the slide.
So after spending 4 hours of my Saturday fixing the slide and getting water I am back to my vacation.......
Also when pulling out pots and pans discover many items that are dirty. Also found many items that had been washed but still had soap residue on them.
When I returned the unit to Owner I told him of these issues, fully explaining my consternation......he commiserated with me and said sorry. That is all very nice but that does not give me back my 4 hours of life and vacation!
As part of the rental we were required to pay a $ 75.00 cleaning fee. As the unit was not fully clean this is suspect, but I could have overlooked this. The water issue is a major issue for me. I paid more for this unit just so I did not have to fix the unit (which I did have to), deal with stinky sewage (which I did have to), would not have to take extra water bottles (which I SHOULD have, apparently).
Overall, this trailer is a very nice unit but the water fill issue really took the shine off of my vacation.....I should have saved the $ 500.00 and just tent camped since it would have been easier.
This was a great RV the entire experience was fantastic and we would rent from Arthur again
Very good and reasonably priced compared to others.
