Show Low, Arizona is located in Navajo County on the Mogollon Rim. It has an elevation of about 6,350 feet and a population of about 10,700 people. The city was established in 1870 and officially incorporated in 1953. No one is exactly sure how the city got its name, but many people speculate that the name came about after a long game of poker, during which two ranch partners played for the right to stay in their settlement. 

Because of its high elevation, Show Low sees mild weather throughout the year. Summer temperatures generally hover around 85 to 90, and winter temperatures are usually in the mid-40s. Occasionally, temperatures drop below freezing, particularly at night, but this is relatively uncommon. The area sees about 18 inches of rain each year, with most of it falling in July and August. Monsoons during the summer bring the most rain, and these large storms happen mostly in the afternoon and evening, so summer days are usually clear and bright.
