Lake Havasu, Arizona

Located in the western part of Arizona, on Lake Havasu, the city bearing the same name as the lake is home to just over fifty thousand people. It’s a stunning city, offering a variety of things to do. The warm, arid climate means that you almost never have to worry about bundling up to protect against the cold, but the summer heat can be hard on those who are not accustomed to it. Fortunately, there are plenty of water-based activities you can enjoy to beat the heat in your RV rental Lake Havasu AZ!

Popular Tourist Attractions

There’s a lot to see here, but one of the first things that deserves a mention is what you’ll see when you first enter the city. The people of Lake Havasu bought London Bridge. Yes, the actual London Bridge. It spans the narrow channel that spans a segment of the Colorado River. When the Londoners replaced the old bridge in 1968, the city bought it for $2.5m.

Lake Havasu

No mention of the city would be complete without also mentioning the lake that it’s built around. It’s warm to downright hot for much of the year here, and as you might imagine, the lake plays a central role in life in the city. There’s no shortage of fun, water-based activities to enjoy, and you’ll most likely find yourself gravitating to the lake while you’re here. It’s simply magnificent.

Sara Park

This is a stunning, sprawling state park with innumerable scenic vistas to enjoy. Bring your camera, extra bottles of water, and your best, most rugged hiking shoes – you’ll need them! While there, hike down “The Crack.” A wonderful adventure awaits you.

Campgrounds Near Lake Havasu

There are more than two dozen campgrounds in and around Lake Havasu, so there’s no shortage of places to stay. Below, we’ll outline a few of our top picks.

The Refuge Golf and Country Club

This exclusive RV resort is top of the line, but you’ll pay for it. Spaces here start at $89 a night, and can go as high as $109. The resort is open all year, is pet friendly, and offers a full range of amenities, from free WiFi, a game room and a dedicated Rec. Hall, plus a heated pool, spa, and of course, the golf course. If you love a good game of golf, then you’ll absolutely love your stay here. Expensive, but highly recommended for a motorhome rental Lake Havasu!

Pirate Cove Resort

With prices ranging from $40 to $50, you’ll find a lot to like at this resort. With access to the Colorado River, and all the fun, water-based activities that comes with it, this is really a good value for the money. In addition to the river, you’ll also find a marina here, a playground for the kids, and a Rec. Hall. The park is pet friendly, with restrictions on breed, and has an on-site dump station, ice machine, restaurant, laundry facility, and a small grocery store. Really superb value for the money.

Campbell Cove RV Resort

For the traveler on a budget, there are few better deals to be had than Campbell cove. Prices here range from $34 to $42 a night, and you’ll find free WiFi, a game room, a heated pool and a spa. Major cable services are available, along with the customary hot showers and clean restrooms. A really great place to stay in a Lake Havasu trailer rental!

Events

There are a number of fun, exciting things to do in the city. A few of them are outlined below.

Spring Break

Given that Lake Havasu has been featured on a number of television programs as a popular spring break destination, we almost had to mention it as something to do here. If you love a party, then you’ll love all that spring break has to offer in Lake Havasu. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a quiet, back-to-nature vacation, then you’ll probably want to avoid the area during that time of year.

The Havasu Island Hot Air Balloon Fest & Fair

If you’re looking for a fantastic, magical adventure, then come in mid-January. If you haven’t ever been on a hot air balloon before, then put this on your bucket list. It’s a one of a kind adventure that will leave you breathless and wanting to come back year after year. Of course, in addition to the balloons themselves, there are all sorts of other fun activities to enjoy, but let’s face it, you’re going to come and stay for the balloons. There’s nothing else like it.

The Western Winter Blast

In mid-February of each year, Lake Havasu hosts a magnificent pyrotechnics display. There’s something magical about watching the display over the dark, glistening waters of the lake with the endless expanse of desert all around. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Lake Havasu is a wonderful vacation destination that you’ve probably never heard of. If you’re looking for something just a bit different, then put this high on your list. It’s a magical oasis in the desert!
