La Habra is a city in the northwestern corner of Orange County, California. The name "La Habra" referred to the natural pass through the hills, which was first discovered and used by Spanish explorers on an expedition in 1769. The actual city of La Habra was founded much later, in 1896. The town's first post office was established in 1898, and the city was officially incorporated on January 20, 1925. At the time, La Habra was home to approximately 3,000 people. By 1928, the city had become the largest avocado grower in the region.
Today, La Habra has a population of roughly 63,000 and is known as one of the nicer places to live in southern California. The area is home to several beautiful parks and outdoor recreation opportunities. The sun is almost always shining, and you could enjoy it by having a picnic or strolling the walking trail at Vista del Valle Park. If you'd rather do something a little more active, you could learn to ride a horse at Yater Performance Riding or work on your golf game at Westridge Golf Club. Alternatively, you could spend a fun day fishing, boating, or even playing tennis at Carbon Canyon Park.
If you're a fan of the performing arts, consider catching a live show at Mysterium Theater. You might also want to learn about the history of the area at the La Habra Historical Museum or take the kids for an educational afternoon at The Children's Museum. Another excellent destination is the Brea Art Gallery, which features rotating exhibits displaying many different art styles. When you get hungry, think about stopping by Agrusa's Italian Restaurant for some of the tastiest Italian food in the area. Then, after dinner, you could enjoy a delicious craft beer or two at Bruery Terreux.
