Gateway Arch National Park

Gateway Arch National Park is only five minutes off of Interstate 70 as it goes through Baltimore, so you'll likely want to tour this man-made marvel on your road trip from Wichita to Baltimore. The main attraction at the park is the Gateway Arch itself; you'll love the view from the top of this 630-foot architectural wonder. There's more to this park than the Arch, however, you can also stroll along the banks of the Mississippi River and tour some other historical buildings. 

Indiana Sand Dunes National Park  

If you want to experience the wonder of the Great Lakes on your Wichita to Baltimore RV road trip, then you should travel two hours and 20 minutes north of Indianapolis to Indiana Sand Dunes National Park. This park is located on the shore of Lake Michigan, so there are plenty of places for fishing, swimming, and water sports. Cuyahoga Valley National Park  

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is only half an hour from Lake Erie, making for another great park to visit if you want to get close to the Great Lakes. It's only an hour and a half north of Cambridge Township, Ohio, so it's easy to reach on your road trip from Wichita to Baltimore. If you enjoy looking at waterfalls, then this park is a must thanks to its 100 lovely falls. There are also 100 miles of river that are perfect for boating and fishing. New River Gorge National Park  

If you head three hours and 15 minutes south of Cambridge Township, you'll be able to visit America's newest national park: New River Gorge National Park. This park is anything but new to adventurers, thanks to the New River Gorge and the New River. Rafting and hiking are especially popular here due to the 70,000 acres of countryside ripe for exploration. Be sure to pay a visit to the iconic New River Gorge Bridge so that you can appreciate this lengthy steel arch bridge.

Shenandoah National Park  

Shenandoah National Park is just an hour and 15 minutes from Hagerstown, Maryland. This beautiful 300-square-mile portion of the Blue Ridge Mountains is home to plenty of fantastic peaks, forests, waterfalls, streams, plants, and animals. There are several great ways to explore this Virginia park. The Appalachian Trail runs the entire length of the park, meaning you'll be able to hike more than 100 miles of that popular trail. There are plenty of other trails in the park; some of them are even pet-friendly. If you'd prefer to see some of the sights from the comfort of your vehicle, gorgeous Skyline Drive's 100 miles await.

Eisenhower State Park  

Since Eisenhower State Park is only 15 minutes from Key West, Kansas, it's a logical stop on your Wichita to Baltimore RV road trip. Melvern Lake is a great place for fishing and boating; the park also contains a fly fishing pond and a children's fishing pond, so this is an awesome spot for anglers to visit. Hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails crisscross the 1,785 acres of this park. 

Wolf Creek State Park  

If you drive 35 minutes north of Effingham, Illinois, to Lake Shelbyville, then you'll be able to explore Wolf Creek State Park. Lake Shelbyville is over 11,000 acres large, and the park itself has 250 miles of shoreline, so this is an ideal place to go swimming, boating, fishing, and more. There are some great places to hike in the woods, and you can ride your horse at the equestrian center. 

Summit Lake State Park  

Summit Lake State Park is easy to reach since it’s only 20 minutes north of Franklin Township, Indiana. Summit Lake Reservoir is 800 acres large, making it the perfect choice for a wide variety of water sports. There are plenty of hiking trails here, so you'll be able to explore the area around the lake as well as some wetlands, woodlands, prairies, and fields. 

Buck Creek State Park  

The entrance to Buck Creek State Park is only seven minutes north of the outskirts of Springfield, Ohio, making it easy to pay a visit there on your road trip from Wichita to Baltimore. Fishing, boating, and swimming are all popular activities to do at the Clarence J. Brown Reservoir, which is more than 2,000 acres large. If you want to explore various geographical features crafted by glaciers during the Ice Age, you can do so on foot, bike, or horseback. 

Gambrill State Park  

Gambrill State Park is roughly five minutes from your route as it passes through Frederick, Maryland. Located just an hour outside of Baltimore, it's a late stop on your road trip itinerary from Wichita to Baltimore. Catoctin Mountain and its surrounding environs provide visitors with peaceful forests, well-stocked fishing areas, and great places for hunting. Visiting here is a must during the fall leaf-viewing season as the sight of the autumn leaves is outstanding.

The Arabia Steamboat Museum  

The Arabia Steamboat Museum is several minutes from the Missouri River and your route as it goes through Kansas City. Numerous everyday objects that sank aboard the steamboat Arabia on the Missouri River in the mid-1800s are on display here. The steamboat was carrying stock for multiple stores in various frontier towns; you can learn more about what merchandise people could buy on the frontier during the 19th century. 

Laclede’s Landing Wax Museum  

About five minutes south of your route as it goes through St. Louis and just a few minutes north of the Gateway Arch is Laclede's Landing Wax Museum. More than 250 life-size figures of politicians, movie stars, musicians, athletes, monsters, and more await you at this 10,000-square-foot facility. The wax collection is housed in a cast-iron-facade warehouse building built in 1885 and listed as a National Historic Landmark.

Indianapolis Zoo  

The Indianapolis Zoo is five minutes from both the heart of Indianapolis and Interstate 70 as it goes through town. This zoo is home to the only underwater dolphin viewing dome in the world, as well as America's biggest shark-touching pool. You can race a cheetah, ride the Kombo Coaster, and get a bite to eat at one of several cafes in the park.

Kelton House Museum  

Kelton House Museum is located about five minutes off of your route as it travels through Columbus, Ohio. This lovely mansion from the 19th century was once a stop on the Underground Railroad, so it's a terrific place to learn about the history of the area during this turbulent time period. Whether you want to take a self-guided tour, a docent-led tour, or even a special experiential tour, you'll be able to explore this fascinating Victorian mansion.

Monocacy National Battlefield  

Monocacy National Battlefield is just a handful of minutes from Frederick, Maryland, so why not stop by on your Wichita to Baltimore RV road trip? This Civil War battlefield can be explored via six hiking trails and a self-guided auto tour. Over 1,700 acres are home to plants, animals, fields, forests, creeks, and historical houses.
