The city of Frederick was founded in 1745 by German settlers and is located in the vicinity of the Civil War battlegrounds of Monocacy, Antietam, and Gettysburg. Today, there is historic architecture, church spires, theatrical performances, eclectic shops, a Civil War Museum, and weekly summer concerts that attract lots of visitors.
