Fishing and Boating
There are many opportunities for fishing within the Parker Strip Recreation Area, including at the Quail Hollow Day Use Area. Anglers can catch bluegill, bass, crappie, or catfish. The area is also popular with boaters, and the river is excellent for paddling, rafting, or swimming.
Climbing
The area around the Quail Hollow Day Use Area is not ideal for rock climbing, as the rock is not of the correct quality and can sometimes be risky for holds. However, Crab Claw Rock, which is a large tower near Lake Havasu City, does offer five traditional and top-rope routes. The area around the tower also offers some bouldering options.
Wildlife Viewing
The Quail Hollow Day Use Area and the rest of the Parker Strip Recreation Area are excellent for wildlife viewing and photography. Visitors can also head to the Spirit Mountain Wilderness, the East Cactus Plain Wilderness, or the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge to see mule deer, bighorn sheep, ground squirrels, quails, rabbits, hawks, eagles, bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes, lizards, and snakes. The Colorado River also attracts many nesting birds.
Picnicking
The Quail Hollow Day Use Area is perfect for picnicking. It offers shaded tables and vault toilets. Visitors can also head to the nearby Bullfrog or Cable Car Day Use Areas. These locations in the Parker Strip Recreation Area offer picnic tables, restrooms, and grills.
