Quail Hollow Day Use Area

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for 1 in every 10 acres of land in the U.S.

The Quail Hollow Day Use Area is part of the Parker Strip Recreation Area, which is itself located along the Colorado River near Lake Havasu City. Because of its location, the area provides easy access to Arizona, California, and Nevada and offers a number of recreational activities. The Quail Hollow Day Use Area offers visitors a glimpse into a desert landscape but also provides river access, and it’s open all year long.

BLM sites, which are protected public lands, often offer different options for hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, rock climbing, or other fun and exciting activities. Because it is a day-use area, Quail Hollow doesn’t provide camping options, but you can find BLM sites with camping amenities by searching for “BLM camping near me.”

Planning your Quail Hollow Day Use Area BLM trip

The Quail Hollow Day Use Area and the surrounding Parker Strip Recreation Area can see incredibly high temperatures during the summer. Summer days are also very dry, so bring plenty of water and stay hydrated. Nights are often surprisingly cold, and winters can be chilly. Always check the weather before you leave and watch for high-temperature advisories or sudden thunderstorms.

Oversized vehicles, such as some RVs and vehicles towing trailers, cannot cross the Parker Dam, so you may need to approach the day-use area from Parker or find an alternate route. If you plan to traverse the byways that crisscross the Parker Strip Recreation Area, you may need an all-terrain or four-wheel-drive vehicle. During the winter, there is an on-site BLM volunteer site host at the day-use area, and they can often answer any questions you might have about exploring the area.

Leave No Trace Leaf

Leave No Trace practices can help to protect Bureau of Land Management campgrounds and day-use areas. In the desert, one of the most important Leave No Trace guidelines to follow is fire safety and containment. Always check local fire bans and current danger ratings before starting a fire. Only build a fire in a pit or ring, and always keep the fire completely contained. It’s also important to always throw away all of your trash to keep the area looking beautiful. Stay on the trails and only camp in approved areas. Limit your impact on the landscape and keep noise levels down so as not to bother other visitors.
