The RV was more or less fine. Some cosmetic issues inside such as worn fabric on couches and captains seats. Not a big deal, just didn't expect it. Some of the trim for the single bed was broken which was disappointing. That all being said, Eric and David shined from a service experience. We had the converter go out and at 10:30 at night david answered our call and approved us to contact a local RV mexhanic. The next day the mechanic had us going and david called to handle no problem. Didn't make us feel as if we were putting him out and he just took care of it. These gentlemen lived up to their word and then some. I appreciate that more than the actual RV. I'd definitely rent from them again.

We knew something might be amiss when a week before we were scheduled to pick up the RV, the only review appeared: "needs work. disappointing trip." We contacted RV Share and the owner to express concern. The owner told us he hadn't seen the review, wasn't sure to what it was referring, and had a mechanic look it over before each trip. The last part is definitely true because when my husband went to pick it up at the scheduled time, the mechanic was literally underneath the RV looking at it. He was told that the RV needed a hydraulic hose but the mechanic didn't have one. No hydraulics means you can't level out the RV at campsites or push out the walls. Kind of an important part of what makes an RV an RV. My husband urged the mechanic to fix it. After hours of waiting in the heat, it was "fixed." The owner's friend (who was very nice and was the person we spoke with the day of pick up and drop off) waived the $100 charge we were getting for picking up the RV the night before--even though that was the agreed upon date/time. Was still incredibly disappointing to realize that the pictures were obviously taken when this RV was purchased in 2001. The couch, chairs, benches, and the awning have gone through much wear and tear. The pictures are definitely not accurate. Still would have rented if we had seen the accurate pictures, but the inaccuracy annoyed us and raised another red flag. Also unprofessional was the fact that the RV had a 1/4 tank of gas and was filthy on the outside from the previous trip. Spent nearly an hour and $50 at a truck stop scrubbing the outside of the RV. Again, when someone doesn't take care of the small things, it makes you worry about the big things. At our first campground, we had issues getting the jacks to retract. We realized that the mechanic hadn't put in much hydraulic fluid. So we had to take an out-of-the-way trip to find a station (four stops) that sold hydraulic fluid. Another $30. We thought we should check the propane tank. Good thing because it was nearly empty. More money. The second night the inflatable mattress kept deflating on the pull-out couch. My mother decided it was easiest to just sleep on the couch the remaining six nights instead of inflating the mattress every two hours. Then right on cue, the A/C quit working on us during our eight-hour drive through South Dakota. Fortunately that happened with only two days left in our trip. We called and left a message for the owner when we returned to talk about our issues. He never returned our call. However, our card was charged within 24 hours for the extra mileage on the RV. We signed up for that and knew the deal but were disappointed that that was his concern instead of hearing ours. I would not rent from this owner; however, I would look into ones that have positive reviews. If my husband wasn't handy and good with vehicles, I think this could have been a miserable trip. Fortunately, he's smart, hard-working, and good with his hands--a definite saving grace of this trip.
