The Plaza Art Fair started in 1932 to stimulate the economy during the Great Depression and draw attention to local artists. Since then, it has become one of Kansas City's biggest cultural events. Artists line up to sell their pieces and meet fellow artists. In addition to art, the Plaza Art Fair offers live music and food vendors. Listen to your favorite tunes as you browse, then grab a bite to eat while supporting local restaurants. The fair takes place in Country Club Plaza, which offers dozens of food, shopping and entertainment venues.
As you walk through Country Club Plaza, you'll find booths lined with paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, jewelry and other art pieces. You can talk to artists to learn more about their work and take home pieces for your collection. If you have kids, the Plaza Art Fair has an interactive section just for them. Local bands and musicians play live music during the fair. When you're done browsing, stop to enjoy the free concerts.
Fair amenities include restrooms, ATMs, a first-aid station, an information booth, food vendors and a baby lounge. Country Club Plaza also contains dozens of shops and restaurants with indoor restrooms.
