Junction Butte Wetlands

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for 1 in every 10 acres of land in the U.S.

Located near Kremmling, Colorado not far from the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Rocky Mountain National Park, the Junction Butte Wetlands is a scenic area that includes a stretch of the Colorado River. The wetlands are most commonly used as a way to observe and photograph wildlife, particularly the many bird species that migrate to the area or call the space home. The protected space spans 120 acres in total.

BLM sites are areas that have been set aside and are protected by both the bureau and the people who visit them. Many of these sites, like the Junction Butte Wetlands, provide a safe habitat for a range of animal and plant species. Other sites offer different hiking, boating, or camping options. Leave No Trace Leaf

The Junction Butte Wetlands and other Bureau of Land Management campgrounds or wild areas require care in order to remain in their natural, untouched state. Leave No Trace practices, such as treating the landscape with care and remaining on trails as much as possible, can help. It’s also a good idea to observe wildlife from a distance. Share public areas with other visitors, and always pack out all of your trash and waste. This includes biodegradable items such as apple cores. When camping, camp only on stable land where there is little vegetation. Try to choose areas that look like they have already been used for that purpose.
