The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for 1 in every 10 acres of land in the U.S.

The Bureau of Land Management is a federal agency that oversees over 247.3 million acres across the US. It manages these lands for public enjoyment and to preserve important areas of nature, culture, and history. You may find Bureau of Land Management campgrounds on or near these grounds. Planning your Dead Mountains Wilderness BLM trip

Vehicles aren't allowed in the Dead Mountains Wilderness. Desert soils are easily damaged, so you should do your best to stay on established trails, including while horseback riding. Make sure that your horse is hydrated before venturing out as well. There aren't a lot of water sources in the region.

You should bring adequate water with you when you go hiking, as well as recommended emergency supplies, including sunscreen, a first aid kit, emergency batteries or another power source, and a fire starter, such as a lighter or matches. Before you head out on your trip, check out our blog for all you need to know about BLM camping.

Leave No Trace Leaf

Leave No Trace principles are important because they keep the land beautiful and thriving for the wildlife that lives there and for new visitors. Guidelines differ slightly based on what type of terrain you're on. In the desert, for instance, you should only camp on the sand and not on any vegetation. You must do your best to avoid stepping on vegetation as it's harder for it to survive in the desert. Also, avoid touching petroglyphs because oils from your hands can cause them to deteriorate. Don't carve on any rocks or canyon walls either.
