Locust Lake State Park is a public recreation and camping area located in Barnesville, a city of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The land now known as Locust Valley was originally claimed by the Lenape people, and it was eventually purchased from the Marchalonis Brothers by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1966. Established on June 10, 1972, the state park has a total land area of 1,089 acres and an elevation of 1,749 feet. It's nestled into the side of Locust Mountain, a significant point of interest, and surrounded by dense forests. The public recreation area also includes the 52-acre Locust Lake, which is accessible to visitors for a wide range of recreational activities. A few cities located in close proximity to the state park include Hazleton, Pottsville, and Berwick.

How to Get to
Locust Lake State Park

Two cities from which visitors often travel to Locust Lake State Park include New York City and Philadelphia. From New York City, start by taking West St to I-78 W in Jersey City. Continue on I-78 W to Upper Macungie Township, then take exit 49 B from I-78 W. After continuing on PA-100 N, take PA-309 N and US-209 S to Locust Lake Rd in Barnesville.

On the way from Philadelphia, start by getting onto I-76 W from S Penn Square, John F Kennedy Blvd, and John F Kennedy Blvd Bridge. Follow I-76 W and I-476 N to PA-100 N in Upper Macungie Township, then take exit 49 B from I-78 W. After continuing on PA-100 N, take PA-309 N and US-209 S to Locust Lake Rd in Barnesville.
