Mills Norrie State Park encompasses more than 1,000 acres and is adjacent to the Hudson River in eastern New York. It is home to the Norrie Point Environmental Center and the Staatsburgh State Historic Site. At this park, you will also find camping accommodations and a marina. It is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and hiking. Once the snow flies, you can also cross-country ski and snowshoe at this outdoor recreation area. In addition, while visiting, you will have access to the many nearby attractions in Hyde Park, Rhinebeck, and Poughkeepsie.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Mills Norrie State Park
The camping season at Mills Norrie State Park runs from late April through Labor Day weekend. There are 51 camping spots, and only six of these spots have electrical hookups. The maximum RV length is 20 feet, and all spots have back-in access. Only six campers are permitted at each site. In the campground, campers can take advantage of showers, toilets, a dump station, and communal water spigots.
What to Do at
Mills Norrie State Park
History buffs are drawn to Mills Norrie State Park by the Staatsburgh State Historic Site, and the park offers year-round recreation as well. In the winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on the many hiking trails is permitted. During warmer weather conditions, cycling, hiking, boating, and camping are fun ways to spend free time. You can also visit the Norrie Point Environmental Center, which features interpretive exhibits and educational programs, or practice your swing on the Dinsmore Golf Course.
Fishing
Fishing is permitted from the shore along the Hudson River as well as via boat. The Norrie Marina has a special fishing access area as well. The river is home to largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, shad, and striped bass. You will need a New York fishing license to angle, which you can get online before you arrive.
Geocaching
Several caches are hidden throughout Mills Norrie State Park along the trails. You can use your smartphone or GPS device to find one. Once you do, you can take a memento and sign the logbook. However, remember to bring a family-friendly item to leave in the container for the next geocacher.
Nature Watching
At the park's hiking trails, picnic areas, and campground, you can observe numerous bird and mammal species. Some of these include red-shouldered hawks, bluebirds, great blue herons, wood ducks, red foxes, white-tailed deer, and muskrats.
Hiking
Several trails are rated as easy wind through Mills Norrie State Park and offer exceptional views of the Hudson River. Some of the longer trails are the 5.1-mile Norrie Point Trail, the 3.6-mile Mills Norrie Blue Trail Loop, and the 4.4-mile Mills Norie Yellow and Red Loops.
Boating
A 145-slip marina is located at Mills Norrie State Park on the Hudson River. Slips can be rented seasonally, and transient visitors can use the slips as space allows. All slips have electrical hookups for an additional fee, and a pumping facility and a boat launch are also available.
Biking
All the hiking trails in Mills Norrie State Park are also open to biking enthusiasts. In addition, you can ride the park roads for exercise or to get around.
How to Get to
Mills Norrie State Park
Mills Norrie State Park is located a short drive north of Poughkeepsie and just west of Staatsburg. To reach the park from Poughkeepsie, travel north on Highway 9. Upon entering Staatsburg's southern city limit, turn left on Margaret Norrie State Road. After the railroad tracks, the road splits to the north and south. Follow the northern route, which turns into Campground Hill Road. This takes you to the park's entrance.
Entering Mills Norrie State Park
The park is open daily throughout the year, from sunrise to sunset. The park office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The golf course is open at 8 a.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. on weekends from April through October.

Reservations are not required to camp at Mills Norrie State Park. The nightly rate is $15 to $19, and there is a surcharge of $5 for out-of-state visitors. The reservation fee is $7.25.
Pets are welcome at Mills Norrie State Park. You are allowed to bring two, and they can hike with you on the trails. However, they must be on a leash, and you are expected to clean up after your furry family members.
