Warren and the surrounding area were originally part of the Cornplanter Tract. The government gave the land to John "Cornplanter" Abeel, a Seneca Native American, for his personal use in 1796. He promptly opened it up for settlement, and 400 Senneca Native Americans soon moved to the area. Several generations lived on the land, but the 1918 flu pandemic mainly wiped out the tribe. The government built the Kinzua Dam to create the Allegheny Reservoir on this tract. Cuyahoga Valley National Park near Brecksville, Ohio is an excellent place for a scenic train ride. Settle back in one of the historic train cars for a great ride. You can catch the train at the Akron Northside Station. Consider taking the train to the Botzum, Indigo Lake, Peninsula, or Boston Mill stations, where you can hike along the Towpath Trail.
