Located in southern Oregon, Cave Junction is a city with a population of just under 2,000 people. The city got its name due to its location near the Oregon Caves National Monument and the Caves Highway, better known as Oregon Route 46. The area is often called the Gateway to the Oregon Caves.

Cave Junction was originally a mining town, first developed in the 1850s when people came to search for gold. Mining mostly stopped after the 1870s, and the city switched to ranching, fishing, and agriculture to support its economy. In the 1950s, timber became the city’s main source of income, but the timber industry has since dropped off in the area. Today, Cave Junction is mostly a tourist spot, and many people move there looking for a quieter area and more recreation opportunities. Visitors to the area can take in the Oregon Caves or spend a day visiting the Great Cats World Park Zoo. The area is also well-known for its wineries. 

The climate in Cave Junction is relatively mild. Summers are warm to hot, and winters are cold and rainy. The area rarely sees snow.
