Explore Roseburg, Oregon in an RVshare RV Rental

Roseburg was the site of the Battle of Hungry Hill in 1855, which was part of the Rogue River Wars fought between several Native American groups and the U.S. Army. In 1851, a settler named Aaron Rose established a homestead in the area after arriving from Michigan. He constructed the first building in the new community, which was originally called Deer Creek. The name was changed to Roseburgh, after Aaron Rose, in 1857, and the spelling was later switched to Roseburg in 1894. Roseburg was officially incorporated on October 3, 1872.

Present-day Roseburg boasts a population of roughly 24,000 and is most known for its breathtaking waterfalls and many scenic hiking routes. One spot worth visiting while you're in town is Watson Falls, an impressive 272-foot waterfall. There's a wood bridge below the falls that visitors can cross for an incredible viewing experience. Another notable natural attraction is Mount Thielsen, which is a wonderful destination for hiking and skiing.

Another thing that Roseburg is known for is its world-class collection of wineries and vineyards. A few in the area that wine lovers should be sure to visit include the HillCrest Winery and Distillery, Reustle Prayer Rock Vineyards, Melrose Vineyards, and Girardet Vineyards & Winery. During your visit, you might also want to browse the superb galleries of the Umpqua Valley Arts Association or learn about the history of the area at the Douglas County Museum of History & Natural History.

When your belly starts to rumble, you can head to one of Roseburg's many great restaurants. A few of the most revered spots in town are the Brix Grill, the True Kitchen + Bar, and Alexanders Greek Cuisine.
