Located in Lebanon, TN east of Nashville, the Tennessee State Fair is an incredible event full of lights, shows, competitions, and of course, delicious foods. People come from near and far to attend the event, and many prepare for the various events for months in advance.
The mission of the Wilson County Fair/Tennessee State Fair is "To promote, encourage, and stimulate the civic welfare and betterment of Wilson County, Tennessee, and the surrounding geographical area, through the promotion, ownership and operation of a Fair and other similar endeavors; to promote, encourage and maintain interest in agriculture, labor, industry, recreation, business, commerce, trade and any other civic function or interest by the exhibition method or otherwise; to cooperate with other citizens and groups of citizens interested in the same or similar purposes."
People attend a fair with the expectation of being entertained. Lucky for them, Tennessee State Fair has plenty of entertainment to go around. With several stages across the grounds, you'll enjoy live music, rides, square dancing, animals and much more.
While some performances are free to the public, others do require special tickets. Be sure to buy tickets online for any shows that charge a separate admission fee. This will ensure you snag a spot before they’re all gone.
Wondering what other kinds of entertainment you might find at this state fair? There are tons of things to see and do.
Do you enjoy midway games or carnival-style rides? If so, you’ll love the carnival section of this fair. Be sure to purchase an Anytime Ride wristband, which gives you access to the rides throughout the fair.
Pig racing, milking demonstrations, and a rabbit area all help introduce attendees to the world of farming, and vendors give guests an opportunity to check out new and interesting products. Meanwhile, there are plenty of competition opportunities for those with a competitive streak. These include eating competitions, cookoffs, crafting contests, and many more.
As you might imagine, the fair has plenty of food available, and we highly recommend budgeting for at least one delicious fair food item. Additionally, bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks can be found in various locations across the fairgrounds. For visitor comfort and safety, a First Aid Station is also provided and can be easily located on the map.

Unless you will be working for the fair, you will not be able to park your RV on the fairgrounds. This is unfortunate considering RVing is the best way to visit any fair. That said, there are options for camping outside of the fairgrounds that can work just as well:
This local campground is the perfect place to rest your head after a long day at the fair. While rates are a bit expensive, you can expect level concrete pads with full hookups.
For those who love the KOA chain of campgrounds, the Nashville KOA will be the perfect spot. This campground has slightly more reasonable rates and plenty of amenities.
Another local campground, Two Rivers Campground is also a good choice. This is a good, solid option with full hookups and included Wi-Fi. The campground provides a Good Sam discount. Best of all, you’ll only have to drive about 19 minutes to get to the fair.
As is the case with all Jellystone parks, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone in Nashville is an excellent option for families with young kids. Fun family-friendly activities are held often at this park, and the playground, sports areas, and pool all make it even more family-friendly.
Last but certainly not least is Anderson Road Campground. This campground is a little more rustic than the options mentioned above. That said, it is much more budget-friendly.
Of course, if you decide to make your fair visit a camping trip, you’re going to need an RV. Don’t own an RV? Why not rent one from RVshare? With a number of options to choose from, you’re sure to find something that suits your needs and makes your Tennessee State Fair visit the trip of a lifetime.

Once you arrive at the fair you will be directed to a parking lot. The onsite parking is plentiful, and the cost is free for general admission. That said, we recommend carpooling or taking the shuttle with friends and family to save time and money.
