Early settlers thought the evergreens in the area that is now the Cedars of Lebanon State Park reminded them of the cedar forests depicted in the biblical land of Lebanon, thus its name. The Cedars of Lebanon RV Campground is located in Wilson County, 10 miles south of Lebanon, Tennessee, and comprises 1,139 acres that are part of the Cedars of Lebanon State Forest. It is an unusual ecosystem of limestone rock pushing near the ground's surface, leading to thin soil that became the ideal habitat for a unique plant environment and on which red cedar trees could grow. Today, the park has the largest public stands of eastern red cedar trees in the U.S., making this a natural haven for RVing and camping nature lovers.

Cedars of Lebanon State Park Campground
Cedars of Lebanon State Park is an excellent place to camp out during your vacation. This state park has 117 campsites that are equipped with grills and picnic tables. Some sites even feature water and electric hookups. If you want to camp under the stars, there are an additional 30 tent and pop-up sites available for the night. Three bathhouses provide hot showers and modern bathrooms. The park's dump station is available for those self-contained camping rigs. You can also purchase firewood and ice at the camping store.

Nashville East/Lebanon KOA
Nashville East/Lebanon KOA is a great place to camp outside of the state park. These campsites can accommodate just about any size rig. You can enjoy plenty of amenities in this campground, including a swimming pool, picnic pavilion, and laundry room. If you are traveling with your pet, there is the Kamp K9 dog park. This park is an excellent spot to let your furry friend get some exercise. All the sites have water, electric, and sewer hookups. This campground is all about convenience, and you can easily book your reservation through the online portal.

At TN40 RV Campground, you can enjoy a quiet atmosphere with plenty of amenities. This small RV campground can accommodate a variety of rigs, including fifth-wheels, pop-ups, and larger vehicles. While you are there, you can play a game of basketball or relax in the swimming pool. There is even a playground for the little ones. TN40 RV Campground offers sites with full hookups of electricity, sewer, and water. You can book this campground for the night, but this park also has seasonal and monthly rates.

Cedars of Lebanon State Park
There are 10 miles of hiking trails, picnic tables and shelters, a splash pad, horseback riding, and forests filled with 350 plant species, of which 19 are endangered plants and 29 are native to the cedar glades. Over 121 bird species have been identified and recorded.

Inside Cedars of Lebanon State Park
If you want to relax in a quiet state park, then Cedars of Lebanon State Park is the perfect place for you. There are plenty of fun activities to enjoy with the entire family, including playing a challenging game of disc golf or relaxing at the swimming pool. If you love to hike, six trails wind through the park. Along with that, horseback riders will enjoy the 12 miles of bridle trails.
Nature Watching
The Butterfly Garden is filled with colorful flowers, caterpillars, and butterflies, and the month you visit will determine what you see. Each year, there is an abundance of butterflies that include eastern tiger swallowtails, pipevine swallowtails, sulphurs, black swallowtails, giant swallowtails, and so many more.
Flora and Fauna
You can find flora like the once-endangered Tennessee coneflower, glade phlox, and the limestone flame flower. The wildlife of the forests and meadows includes turkeys, deer, foxes, and rabbits; forest bird species like the eastern screech owl, barred owl, and tanager; and birds that prefer the open glades, like the indigo bunting and prairie warbler.

How to Get to
Cedars of Lebanon State Park
The Cedars of Lebanon State Park Visitor Center is at 328 Cedar Forest Rd., Lebanon, TN 37090. You can take I-40 E from Nashville to exit 232A, State Route 109 S. Follow State Route 109 S and TN 265 E/Central Pike to Cedar Forest Rd.
You can take US-231 N from Murfreesboro and turn right onto Cedar Forest Road. Highway 231 and Cedar Forest Road intersect.
Entering Cedars of Lebanon State Park
There is plenty of parking near trailheads, the cabins, the picnic areas, and the nature center. Because parking space is limited at the visitor center, you can go to the camping site and check in at the camping store if you have a reservation.
You can reserve your campsite online; otherwise, it is first-come, first-served. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m., and check-out time is noon.
The campsite fees are based on the location, season, and site amenities and range from $29 to $40 per night. There is a $5 reservation fee, and camping rates are for a maximum of six people per campsite. Discounts available for non-premium sites include Tennessee State Residents (10%), U.S. active military members (25-50%), seniors over 62 years old (25-50%), and special discounts for disabled campers.
Frequently Asked Questions About Cedars of Lebanon State Park
The spring and fall are the best time of year for bird-watching because the bird nesting season is May to July, and birds migrate in the early spring and fall. The spring months also offer rare sightings of plants like the Tennessee milkvetch and yellow sunnybell, found only in the cedar glades. The summer months are the hottest and busiest.
The most common wildlife you may glimpse include wild turkeys, squirrels, white-tailed deer, rabbits, and foxes. Some of the year-round birds include the downy woodpecker, Carolina chickadee, white-breasted nuthatch, and red-bellied woodpecker. Some birds, like the Kentucky warbler and wood thrush, are only present in the summer.
Each of the 117 camping spots in three camping areas is numbered, and most are designated for RV camping. The camping areas can accommodate all sizes of RVs, and there are pull-through and back-in camping spots. You want to ensure you reserve a camping spot that can accommodate the length of your RV, with spots available for RVs up to 125 feet in length.
This is a first-come, first-served park, so a reservation is not required, but it is highly recommended. This is especially true during the busy late spring, summer, and early fall months. There is a $5 reservation fee, and the camping spots range in price from $29-$40 per night.
The pet policy is that leashed canines are allowed in campsites and on the trails. They are not allowed inside buildings or on designated swimming beaches and pools. They should not use the splash pad built on the former swimming pool site.
