Powers Fishing Access

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for 1 in every 10 acres of land in the U.S.

The Powers Fishing Access site is one of many public sites throughout Colorado watched over by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Located between the towns of Kremmling and Parshall, CO, the small BLM site sits on the majestic Colorado River and provides access for visitors looking to cast their fishing lines.

Although the site doesn't feature an official campground like many BLM-protected sites, it still provides nearby opportunities for primitive BLM camping in a tranquil setting. Plus, visitors can take advantage of opportunities in the surrounding area for activities like hiking, boating, and wildlife viewing. Whether you're located in Colorado or anywhere else in the United States, consider looking online for "BLM camping near me." This will give you an idea of the nearest BLM sites to your region and get you started on exploring some of the country's most beautiful areas.

Fishing and BoatingFishing and Boating

Fishing is by far the most popular activity for visitors to the Powers Fishing Access site. Travelers come from all over the region to partake in fly fishing in the mighty Colorado River, often coming away with some very impressive rainbow and brown trout. Although fishing is more popular at the BLM site, the Colorado River also offers plenty of excellent opportunities for rafting, kayaking, and canoeing. Some sections of the river are very fast-flowing, though, so make sure that you're experienced enough for the area where you take your boat out.

Wildlife ViewingWildlife Viewing

If you'd like a chance at observing lots of cool wildlife, your best option may be to head southeast from the BLM site to the Arapaho National Forest. There, you can explore the many scenic hiking trails and watch for species like antelope, deer, elk, prairie dogs, bobcats, bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goats, pika, black bears, and lots of small mammals. There are quite a few unique bird species in the area too, including burrowing owls, ferruginous hawks, lark buntings, ravens, and many others.

Picnicking

There may not be any picnic shelters or tables found at the Powers Fishing Access site, but it's still a pleasant place to sit down for a meal. If you come prepared with a picnic blanket or some other type of surface to sit on, you can choose a nice spot near the beautiful river and enjoy your picnic lunch.

You'll need to provide all of your own supplies, but the area near the river should be a very peaceful place for an overnight stay.
