Fishing and Boating
Fishing is by far the most popular activity for visitors to the Powers Fishing Access site. Travelers come from all over the region to partake in fly fishing in the mighty Colorado River, often coming away with some very impressive rainbow and brown trout. Although fishing is more popular at the BLM site, the Colorado River also offers plenty of excellent opportunities for rafting, kayaking, and canoeing. Some sections of the river are very fast-flowing, though, so make sure that you're experienced enough for the area where you take your boat out.
Wildlife Viewing
If you'd like a chance at observing lots of cool wildlife, your best option may be to head southeast from the BLM site to the Arapaho National Forest. There, you can explore the many scenic hiking trails and watch for species like antelope, deer, elk, prairie dogs, bobcats, bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goats, pika, black bears, and lots of small mammals. There are quite a few unique bird species in the area too, including burrowing owls, ferruginous hawks, lark buntings, ravens, and many others.
Picnicking
There may not be any picnic shelters or tables found at the Powers Fishing Access site, but it's still a pleasant place to sit down for a meal. If you come prepared with a picnic blanket or some other type of surface to sit on, you can choose a nice spot near the beautiful river and enjoy your picnic lunch.
