Andrew Jackson State Park is located in Lancaster, South Carolina on the North Carolina border. This is where the seventh U.S. President grew up. You’ll be able to walk around the same areas he played in as a child. Guests who visit the park can enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, and biking throughout the 360 acres. Crown Cove RV Park, located in Fort Mill, South Carolina, is one of the best campgrounds near Andrew Jackson State Park. It has an ideal spot near the border between North Carolina and South Carolina and has been serving the community for over 30 years. Oak Grove Plantation
Oak Grove Plantation is an RV park in Chester County, South Carolina, located conveniently near the state park. The campground is based on the historic Oak Grove home, which was constructed around the year 1800 by Doc Holliday's great Aunt and Uncle. This spot offers exciting features such as beautiful views overlooking the ponds on the premises and a wedding chapel area that can be used for outside services. Inside Andrew Jackson State Park
Andrew Jackson State Park offers a beautiful 20-acre lake you can access to enjoy the waterfront with pursuits such as boating, fishing, and swimming. Hiking paths are etched into the land surrounding the lake, and they offer fantastic views of the region's nature and wildlife. Moreover, the state park's museum features exhibits related to Andrew Jackson's childhood as well as his growth and development into the man that so many know him as today. Rooms throughout the museum depict the culture and lifestyle of the Colonial period, including a textile room, dining room, and bedroom. One of the more notable attractions on the premises is "Andrew Jackson, A Boy of The Waxhawks," a large bronze statue that depicts a young Jackson riding a farm horse.
Fishing
Fishing is allowed from a boat in Andrew Jackson Lake, which has a variety of fish species such as bream, bass, crappie, and catfish. You are also permitted to fish from the shore. A South Carolina fishing license is required for everyone ages 16 to 65. Bream are catch-and-release only.
Geocaching
Andrew Jackson State Park participates in the State Park Geocaching Challenge. Have fun searching for boxes filled with small treasures, and remember to bring along a token to replace the treasures you discover. One of these boxes can be found only 100 feet from the schoolhouse parking lot.
Nature Watching
Andrew Jackson State Park is home to wildlife like raccoons, deer, snakes, squirrels, and rabbits. You're likely to come across them while exploring the two wilderness hiking trails. Birdwatchers will find a large variety of bird species overhead.
Flora and Fauna
In the park, visitors will find a mixed forest of pine, oak, and cedar trees. You’ll also discover wildflowers in bloom during certain times of the year.
Hiking
Andrew Jackson State Park has two main hiking trails. The Garden of the Waxhaws Trail is a 1.3-mile trail that circles Andrew Jackson Lake. Along this trail, you'll find natural staircases, plenty of shade, and water access. The Crawford Trail is an easier, pet-friendly 1.2-mile path that all ages can enjoy.
Boating
Visitors are welcome to go boating on Andrew Jackson Lake. Those who do not have their own boat may rent one on the premises.
Biking
While bikes are not allowed on the designated hiking trails, biking is allowed on any of the park's paved roads.
How to Get to
Andrew Jackson State Park
When coming from Charlotte, NC, take I-277 from Church Street. Follow I-77/US-21 South, I-485/I-485 Outer, and US-521 to Andrew Jackson Park Road. From Atlanta, take I-75 North/I-85 North to Exit 102. Take SC-5 to Andrew Jackson Park Road.
Entering Andrew Jackson State Park
The entry fee to the park is $3 for adults, $1 for children ages 6 through 15, and seniors are half-price. Those who are ages 5 and under are free. There are three main parking lots within the park.

Spring and summer are ideal times of the year to visit Andrew Jackson State Park and enjoy all of the outdoor activities found there. This is due to the warm temperatures during these seasons. Fall is an especially beautiful time to visit as well, and the temperatures are cooler.
As you hike along the park's trails and drive along the roads, you are likely to encounter wildlife such as deer, raccoons, rabbits, and snakes. You'll also notice a variety of bird species overhead, and Andrew Jackson Lake is home to bream, bass, crappie, and catfish.
Andrew Jackson State Park has 25 campsites available for RVs. Five are paved and can accommodate RVs up to 36 feet in length. The rest are gravel and can accommodate RVs up to 30 feet in length. Each site has its own fire ring, picnic table, and grill.
You do need to reserve your campsite at Andrew Jackson State Park by visiting their website or calling 1-866-345-PARK. Reservations must be for two nights at a minimum. Rates start at $10 to $12.50 for up to 10 guests. This rate goes up by $5 to $6.50 for each additional five people.
Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas. They are not permitted in the museum or any other buildings. All pets must be on a leash that is 6 feet or shorter, and they will be asked to leave if they are noisy, dangerous, or a threat to wildlife.
