Scioto Trail State Park RV & Campground Guide

Scioto Trail State Park is situated in the Appalachian foothills bordering the Scioto River, an area rich with reminders of the Mound Builders who once lived here. The first European settlers came to the area in the 1790s; in 1796, General Nathaniel Massie and a small group of settlers founded Chillicothe. This thickly forested hill country is reminiscent of the southern Appalachians. The forest floor presents woodland flowers, including wild geraniums, spring beauties, blue phlox, and Dutchman's breeches. It provides the perfect habitat for wild turkeys, ruffed grouse, white-tailed deer, and other small mammals. The cities located closest to the park are Waverly and Chillicothe.
