The Villages is a census-designated place in the state of Florida with a population of 79,372 as of 2022. It is located in Sumter County, and there is also one other small unincorporated community that shares its name: The Villages West. It is bordered on two sides by Lake Wales to the north and Lake Butler to the south, and on another side by Ocala National Forest to the west and Cross City to the east. It is about 21 miles west of Ocala, Florida, and just over a mile east of Inverness, Florida.

During some weekends, soldiers reenact the battle, which the Spanish won.
The Castillo de San Marcos National Monument commemorates the Spanish stone fort built in 1695. This time, it's not a British general attacking St. Augustine; it's marauding pirates. One of the hiking trails leads into downtown St. Augustine.
