Space Coast, Florida
The Space Coast of Florida is located roughly halfway down the state, on the eastern shore. As its name implies, it is home to the Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and a number of space-related supporting industries. If you’re a science buff, or have any interest in aviation, space travel or history, then a trip here will be one part education and one part vacation. You might call it an infocation! As with most of the rest of the state, this region has a humid, subtropical climate, so no need to pack bulky winter wear, even if you’re planning a trip late in the year.
Popular Tourist Attractions
I’m not sure any visit to the Space Coast could be considered complete without a visit to the Kennedy Space Center. That would be like going to Disney World but intentionally choosing not to see any of the Disney characters milling about the park. In any case, it’s a fascinating place, filled with history and the promise of great things to come. Open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, with tours departing every fifteen minutes. Be there early and plan for a full day of exploration and discovery.
Located in the town of Titusville, the Warbird sits on roughly ten acres of land. Its mission is to collect and restore aircrafts that were active in the Air Forces worldwide, from WWI to the present day. You would be hard pressed to find a better, and more complete collection than what you will find in this interesting museum. If you like aviation or want to learn more about its history, this has got to make the short list of places you’ll want to see.
A sprawling 140,000-acre tract that offers more than 1500 species of plants and animals for your viewing and photographing pleasure. Everything from manatees to bird watching, and plenty in between. With proper permits, you can even hunt and fish here. Just an astonishing place to visit!

In addition to plenty of opportunities for birding and wildlife watching and photographing, the festival also features fun field trips, a plethora of food, plus arts and crafts vendors from around the region.
Now entering its 27th year, the Strawberry Festival is held every mid-March in the town of Melbourne.
