Savage is a suburban city just outside Minneapolis in Minnesota's Scott County. Early in its history, Savage served as a landing point for immigrants from Scotland and Ireland. During World War II, Savage was the site of Camp Savage, which was a Military Intelligence School language program. Military members learned Japanese in the camp. Savage was a relatively undeveloped community until the 1980s and 90s. Around that time, the city upgraded Highway 13, and the Highway 169 Bloomington Ferry Bridge began construction across the Minnesota River. These developments lead to Savage becoming a busy suburb.

Present-day Savage is home to roughly 33,000 people and is known primarily as an industrial manufacturing center for the region.
