The Hollywood on America’s west coast may be known around the world, but the Hollywood on the east coast is just as deserving of attention. Located just south of Ft. Lauderdale and just north of Miami, Hollywood, Florida offers visitors the best of the southern peninsula. There may not be a huge sign, but palm trees, beaches, great dining options, arts and culture, and tons of outdoor recreation opportunities await. It’s an especially beautiful spot to spend a few days (or more) if you’re looking to head south during a long and drawn out winter. Here are some spots to hit while you’re in an RV rental Hollywood FL — the Hollywood in Florida, that is.
Popular Tourist Attractions
Anne Kolb Nature Center
Over 1500 acres of mangrove wetlands are waiting for you to explore at the Anne Kolb Nature Center. There are boat trails (for kayaks and canoes), biking trails, hiking trails, and walking trails, and from all of them, you can observe native species (some of which are endangered) of plants and animals. Catch and release fishing is allowed, and there are numerous lookout spots for enjoying the breathtaking vistas of south Florida. An exhibit hall offers educational displays. Bring your camera and your love of adventure.
Hollywood Beach and Broadwalk
You read that correctly — it’s the Hollywood Beach and Broadwalk, not boardwalk, and it’s one of the best leisure spots in all of south Florida. There’s seven miles of sandy beach for laying out, working on your surfing maneuvers, and just relaxing. The two and a half mile path along the beach is ideal for walking, jogging, biking, and even rollerblading and rollerskating. Three parks along the way offer playgrounds, paddleboard courts, ping-pong tables, splash pad fountains, and more. Lots of restaurants and shops line the streets, so you’ll never go hungry or without souvenirs.
ArtsPark at Young Circle
By day, this is a fantastic park for adults and kids alike. Over its ten acres, you’ll find a huge playground, a splash pad, a gorgeous fountain, and lush spots for relaxing. In the Visual Arts Pavilion, you might see art on display, artists working, or classes taking place. At night, the amphitheater frequently features live music. One visit, and you’ll see why it’s a favorite spot in Hollywood.
Campgrounds and State/National Parks
Topeekeegee Yugnee Park
Also known as TY Park (can you see why?), this county park is a destination unto itself. Spend the night in one of its 61 paved sites, all of which offer full hookups. Take a hot shower or do a load of laundry as you get ready to turn in. After you wake up, go for a bike ride (rentals are available), play a few games of tennis, or put on your bathing suit and have a blast at the park’s awesome Castaway Island water playground.
Paradise Island RV Park
Located just north of Hollywood in Ft. Lauderdale, Paradise Island RV Park has full hookups and loads of amenities. Guests can enjoy the heated pool, fitness center, shuffleboard courts, game room, and free wifi on the premises. Laundry facilities are available as well.
Embassy RV Park
Just south of Hollywood in Hallendale is where you’ll find Embassy RV Park. This is a quiet, no-frills place to stay the night, and the rates are highly affordable. Partial hookups are available, and guests can take a hot shower in the bathroom facilities. There’s also a laundry room, rec hall, and picnic area.
Camelot Days Medieval Festival
TY Park (see above) in mid-November is the place for the Camelot Days Medieval Festival. It’s an opportunity to watch history come alive, and if you’re a fan of Renaissance Faires, you’ll love what Hollywood has to offer at this festival. Check out the living chess game and joust, stroll through the artists’ market, see knights and jesters, enjoy some great festival food, and watch all sorts of live entertainment. Bring the kids — a huge area is set up just for them.
Yellow Green Farmers Market
From citrus to collars, from melons to mozzarella, if you want it fresh and local, you’ll find it at the Yellow Green Farmers Market. It’s open every Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, so if you find yourself in Hollywood over the weekend, stop by for some good eats.
