Located in Florence, this cemetery has a rich history that goes back to the 17 century during the American Civil War. At that time, Florence was used as a prison where two thousand prisoners of war were incarcerated. The mass deaths resulted in the formation of the Florence National Cemetery after the war, where the dead prisoners of war were buried.
