Battlefield Trail
When you get to the Battlefield trail in South Carolina, you’ll be right at the site of the revolutionary Kings Mountain battlefield of October 1780. How To Get To Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail
When traversing the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail from Virginia, your starting point will be the Northern Trailhead at The Abingdon Muster Grounds. 702 Colonial Road Abingdon, VA 24210 is the place you can begin your tour. If you’re coming via Lee Highway from Abingdon’s center, drive south on Cummings Street and make a right turn at the 1st cross street toward West Main Street. Next, take a left and enter Preston Street SW before turning right toward Colonial road SW or Maple Street. Continue driving on Colonial Road SW for about 0.5 miles, after which you’ll arrive at your destination.
While the motorized route is available at all hours year-round, you can only access the non-motorized pathway from sunrise to sundown.
