Dalton is the result of a combination of three different towns. In 1885, the neighboring villages of Dover, Middletown, and Sharon were merged to create Dalton. The town was officially incorporated in August of 1856. A post office was established in 1825 with Benjamin Nowee as the first postmaster, and the first church was formed by the Presbyterians.
Today, Dalton is still a small town with a population of just over 1,600. Dalton is relatively close to Akron and Cleveland, giving visitors easy access to all that these cities have to offer.
