The self-proclaimed biggest hip-hop concert of the year, if you’re into keeping up with the very latest rappers and R&B artists, the Hot Summer 97 Jam is a can’t-miss event -- and well worth the trip even though it’s one day only. With a world-class lineup of some of the best and biggest names in the hip hop business, this concert is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Plus, it’s an excellent excuse to explore New York City, which should be on every camper’s bucket list. Although it’s held outside of town in neighboring New Jersey, the proximity to the Big Apple adds an even more exciting backbeat to what already promises to be an unforgettable adventure.

Although RV parking spaces are available for the duration of the concert, there’s no on-site RV camping as such. But that doesn’t mean the Hot 97 Summer Jam is any less of a perfect excuse to take a trip in a travel trailer or motorhome!

Planning to bring an RV to the Hot 97 Summer Jam? Here are some campground options in the vicinity.
Liberty Harbor RV Park is located on the other side of the island of Manhattan in Jersey City, but provides a convenient and comfortable home base from which to explore all of the NYC metropolitan area. Full hookups are available and you can take the ferry or PATH train straight into the city in under 20 minutes.
Tri-State RV Park is located at the scenic point along the Delaware River where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania meet. It’s about an hour and a half from MetLife stadium and offers a serene reprieve for after you’re done enjoying the show.
Windy Acres Campground and RV Park turns your trip into a bona fide vacation, with restorative on-site activities including fishing, boating, swimming, canoeing and more. Seasonal rates and RV storage are also available; contact the park directly for full details.
Skipping the RV this time around? There’s certainly no shortage of hotels, motels, and hostels to choose from in the greater New York City area. Although we don’t have room for a comprehensive list in this guide, here are a few that shouldn’t escape your notice.
The Wilshire Grand Hotel is located near to the event venue in West Orange, New Jersey, and includes a host of conveniences like an on-site fitness center (and sweet shop -- hey, it’s all about balance!). The hotel is also pet-friendly and offers free high-speed Wifi throughout the property.
Jazz Hostels runs a number of colorful, low-cost locations throughout New York City, with locations on Columbus Circle and Central Park to choose from. Dormitory-style and private rooms are available, and you’ll also get access to a wide variety of services and features, like staff-organized outing and events, free luggage storage prior to check-in, and a cable TV lounge complete with a coffee bar.
Yotel offers a once-in-a-lifetime, boutique hotel experience combined with relatively affordable prices, and there are five New York locations to choose from. Tech-savvy -- to the point, perhaps, of being futuristic -- Yotel offers “cabins” instead of traditional rooms, complete with adjustable bedding, rain-style shower heads, and smart TVs.
Situated just 8 miles outside of New York City in East Rutherford, New Jersey, it’s not hard to find your way to the MetLife Stadium by any of the main northeastern American highways. If you’re flying in, you can choose from the multiplicity of New York-area airports, including John F. Kennedy International (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), or Newark Liberty International (EWR), which is physically the closest.
For full details on driving directions, enter the MetLife Stadium address into your GPS system or Google Maps.
