Just a few miles south of Gainesville, Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is one of the most highly rated state parks in all of the south, not just Florida. In addition to being an ideal place to set up camp with your RV, it’s a terrific place to get close to nature. The park has a nature preserve for many different types of wildlife and also offers plenty of space for activities like biking, hiking, and horseback riding.
Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is only about five miles south of downtown Gainesville and 10 miles from Ben Hill Griffin, home of the Florida Gators football team, meaning you won’t have to go far if you’re a fan of college football or stadium tailgating. At the park, you’ll have plenty to keep you occupied on the water with options like canoeing, kayaking, boating, and fishing.
“This is one of my favorite parks for riding. The trails are easily marked, the restrooms are always clean & plenty of trailer parking. Every time I go out, we’re lucky enough to see plenty of deer, turtles & armadillos.” – Karen, TripAdvisor Review
