Sunset Bay State Park

is about a half-mile from the Cape Arago Lighthouse, and it is just outside of the town of Charleston, Oregon, and very near to Coos Bay, Oregon. Within the park, you can enjoy the tide pools, crescent-shaped beach, and hiking trails. During most of the year, the campgrounds are open for visitors. Sunset Bay State Park is one of three parks along the Cape Arago Highway near the Pacific Ocean. The temperatures stay constant throughout the year.

This 4,770-acre reserve is located on Coos Bay, and it was created to help preserve the coastal areas. The visitor center features exhibits about the local fauna, flora, and ecology of the area. You can also sign up for nature walks, tide pool explorations, bird-watching, and lectures.

How to Get to
Sunset Bay State Park

This state park is 12 miles southwest of Coos Bay. From Charleston, you will need to travel 3 miles south on Cape Arago Highway. Once you are there, you will see the signs that lead to the entrance to the park.
