Nolin Lake State Park was officially opened to the public in May of 2001. With 5,795 acres of lake and 333 acres of land, it has become the perfect place for outdoor recreation. It runs along the northern edge of Mammoth Cave National Park in Edmonson County. Great blue heron, wild turkey, sandhill cranes, squirrels, and other wildlife call this place home. When visiting, you'll love the mild temperatures, but you may want to consider bringing a jacket along for the chilly nights. The state park is slightly over 11 miles west of Bee Spring and 16.5 miles southwest of Brownsville.

From Bee Spring, head south on Old Bee Spring Road toward KY-259 South and turn left onto KY-259 South. Follow for about a mile and a half. Turn left onto KY-728, follow for less than seven miles, and turn left onto Orville Carrol Road. In a short distance, turn left onto State Highway 1827/Brier Creek Road, and then follow signs to the state park
