My Old Kentucky Home State Park offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation while also providing a rich history of the Bluegrass State through its on-site buildings, amphitheater, and program offerings. The park's centerpiece, Federal Hill, is a farm with a mansion that was a popular meeting place for local politicians in the 19th century. This property is often associated with composer Stephen Foster, who wrote the famous anti-slavery ballad "My Old Kentucky Home, Good Night." In addition to the mansion tours and live performances, the state park features a golf course, playgrounds, a seasonal campground, and hiking trails. Only a few minutes from downtown Bardstown, this park is also convenient to Lexington, Taylorsville, and Shepherdsville. With average spring temperatures being in the mid-60s and summer temperatures in the mid-70s, this is a welcoming location to immerse in an active lifestyle year-round.
