The National Farmer’s Bank of Emlenton was chartered in 1879 by a group of local businessmen and farmers. The bank opened for business on January 20, 1880, in a small rented room with an initial investment capital of $2,000.00. By the end of the first year, the bank had assets totaling $60,000.00 - a remarkable sum for that time period. In 1905 the bank was moved to its present location at 5th & Main Streets, and remodeled.
