Maple Grove is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota. It was originally thought of as being deserted, prompting the federal government to relocate Winnebago Native Americans from Wisconsin to the area. In 1851, however, Louis Gervais and Pierre Bottineau came and established themselves as farmers. Others followed suit, and the town began to grow to the point of attracting land investors. 

Pierre Bottineau stumbled upon the area when he stopped to marvel at the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding plains and woodlands. He loved the view so much that he made a report about it. A few people moved into this region after hearing his descriptions. The modest town they founded flourished alongside the larger cities of Osseo and Chaplin.

The people of Maple Grove were able to build their own houses using the abundant forestland in the vicinity. There were moments when tensions between the Indians and the settlers ran high, but Pierre could always manage to mediate.

Fast-forward to the 20th century, and the city of Maple Grove expanded rapidly, especially in the 70s. This is largely due to the construction and considerable improvement of nearby interstates and highways. It is currently one of the Twin Cities' most populated cities and one of the state's most rapidly expanding urban areas.
