Found in the northeastern part of Ohio, the city of Canton was originally founded in 1805 and is now home to around 70,000 people. The community would be incorporated as a village in 1822 and reincorporated as a city 16 years later. Canton would later become the adopted home of President William McKinley, who first practiced law in the city around 1867. In his honor, both the William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum and the McKinley National Memorial were dedicated in 1907.
Canton is perhaps most famously known as the birthplace of the National Football League. The league was originally founded by the American Professional Football Association in 1920, and it would be renamed two years later. For this reason, the city has been home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame since 1963, and fans of the sport flock to the city every year in large numbers to visit the museum. The Canton Museum of Art and the First Ladies National Historic Site are two more must-visit destinations in the area as well.

During the ice ages, this part of the state was actually buried under glacial ice.
