Grand Teton National Park

While many of the best climbs in this park require a four-hour hike before starting a climbing adventure, Guide’s Wall in the Cascade Canyon only requires a two-hour hike. The climbing route is rated 5.8 and has six pitches. Another wonderful option is the 3,0000-foot vertical climb at Rock Springs, which is accessible off the tram. If you want to climb the Grand Teton, be prepared for a beautiful eight-hour hike. The Owen-Spalding route is much easier than the Exam Ridge route. Besides hiking and climbing, you can do many other things in this park, including fishing and swimming in Jenny Lake, going on a scenic drive, bike riding on the multi-use path, and going horseback riding. Yellowstone National Park  

There are over 20 climbs that you can complete at Yellowstone National Park. This park is only 31 miles from Grand Teton National Park. Consider ice climbing at Park Gate. Park your RV at Silver Gate and follow the ski trail for about 2 miles, and this climbing location will be on your left. One of the most popular places to hike at this park is at Avalanche Peaks. Start this adventure by following the Avalanche Peak Trail between Fishing Bridge Junction and Yellowstone’s East Entrance. Then, climb and hike your way to the top of the summit, which is the eighth highest in Yellowstone. You may want to do many other things at Yellowstone National Park, including fishing, boating, sightseeing, and biking. 

Rocky Mountain National Park  

Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, Colorado, contains many legendary climbing locations. The Keyhole Route at Long’s Peak is one that you may want to explore. This climbing experience starts at the Boulder Field. Then, follow the red-and-yellow bullseye markings across a series of natural bridges along steep canyon walls to the Ledges Section's top. Then, master the loose rock in The Through This Section before crossing a narrow bridge on a vertical wall to reach the Homestretch Base, which consists of a polished granite slab. Then, keep climbing upward following the bullseye markers until you finally proudly summit Long’s Peak. There are many other activities you can do at Rocky Mountains National Park, including biking, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding.

Castle Rocks State Park  

Idaho state parks have some great opportunities for climbing and stretching your legs as well. You will want to climb at Castle Rock, which is the largest formation in Castle Rocks State Park near Almo, Idaho. You need to complete a five- to 10-minute hike to start climbing at this state park. Consider doing the Honeymoon in Almo route, which is the highest in the gully on this park's west side. Sports climbers often love coming to this park because of its many shorter routes. The birdwatching is incredible, with visitors spotting many large raptors regularly. There are many miles of hiking trails, and you can connect to the Skyline to the Seas Trail from this location. 

Sinks Canyon State Park  

In Wyoming, check out Sinks Canyon State Park near Lander. It's a unique spot to explore because the Mouth River disappears underground near Sinks Canyon's mouth. The limestone, sandstone, and granite cliff faces are great spots to go climbing. Find many of the routes a short distance to the right of the visitors center. There are many other activities at this remote state park, including hiking through mountain meadows, pine, and alpine forests. The Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River, which runs through this park, is a fantastic place to go trout fishing. 

Golden Gate Canyon State Park  

The granite crags at Golden Gate Canyon State Park make this a great place to go climbing. The routes at this park near Golden, Colorado, are almost evenly split between triad and sporting routes with a tiny number of top-rope and boulder climbing spots. Two dramatic roof crux pulls on the Impeachment Day Parade Route, which takes its name from National Lampoon's "Missing White House Tapes," make it a favorite with many climbers. There are over 35 miles of trails to explore at this state park. Many of the trails are open to mountain bikers and horseback riders. 

Eldorado Canyon State Park  

The gold and red, steep sandstone walls reaching up to 700 feet high at Eldorado Canyon State Park make it a fabulous place to go climbing. The Redgarden Wall is the largest cliff at this park and holds the most climbing routes. Even beginners can find a fun route off the trail that they want to climb. Pack along a picnic lunch to enjoy by the river. This park has a challenging 3-mile mountain biking path. When water levels are high enough, this is a terrific place to go kayaking. 

Kanopolis State Park  

Kanopolis State Park near Marquette, Kansas, is the oldest state park in the state. The sandstone bluffs overlooking the 3,500-acre lake are an excellent place for sport climbing. There are over 15 miles of hiking trails, with many connecting to longer trails in the Smoky Hills Wildlife Area. Many of the trails lead to this park’s three caves. Bring along your fishing rod to go fishing near the dam, which splits this park in half. There is also a swimming beach on the lake.

There are three huge rocks at Central Riverside Pak in Wichita, Kansas, put initially on their ends to form a solar calendar, but these rocks make great places to go sports climbing.
