Pioneer Park is similar to the Long Creek Trading Post in that it is not a typical campsite. It is more of an open-space lot with room for RVs, which might be perfect for you if you are on a low-key trip and you’re looking to save some money. No reservations are required at this Fairbanks, Alaska, campground.
Pioneer Park is definitely one of the most affordable parks on the list. If you are staying in Fairbanks for an extended period of time, this might not be the best option because you can only stay for five consecutive nights. The lot is located on the grounds of Pioneer Park, which is Alaska’s only historic theme park and can make a fun and easy day trip. It is open year-round, and there is no general admissions fee. There are several dumping stations located nearby, and most of them do not charge. Since no reservations are required, you can just pull up and pay when you arrive. However, it is possible for them to turn you away if they are completely full that day.
“This is our second time staying here and we both love it for the location. As noted in the other reviews, it really is just a parking lot with very large spaces for RVs where camping is allowed for up to 5 nights for $12 a night. They have multiple spigots for fresh water but no dump. The spaces are large enough for a Class A with a tow vehicle. Pioneer Park has bathrooms open 24 hours that are basic but clean.” – Bay Area Early Retirees
