Fairbanks, Alaska

Fairbanks is a home rule city in the state Alaska and is the largest city in the interior region of the state, and the third largest too. “The Golden Heart City” is home to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the oldest of Alaska’s current universities. The city was founded in 1901 by Captain E. T. Barnette, a riverboat captain, a banker, and swindler, and served as the first mayor. Fairbanks today serves as a pretty significant tourism location in both Summer and Winter seasons. During the summer, cruise ships regularly drop off passengers for a day or so that explore the city and its attractions. During the winter, tourists come for the Northern Lights, ice carvings, and winter sports. Hunting and fishing are also attractions year round. But there is also a lot more to do especially when you rent an RV in Fairbanks.

We’re gonna help you get your trip in an RV rental Fairbanks AK started off right. We’ve put together a short list of things to do and places you can stay while in an RV rental in Fairbanks, AK that should get you going. We hope you enjoy!

The MTCVC is welcoming to absolutely everyone and strives to educate visitors on the importance of preserving the history and culture of the interior through programs and exhibits throughout the entire year. The MTCVC is located on the banks of the Chena River in Downtown Fairbanks and is one of the communities most prized accomplishments, celebrating who the people of the interior are and how they live. The McKinley Explorer is a train ride that travels from Fairbanks to Denali and through Northern Boreal forests of birch, aspen, and willows and along the Nenana Park and the Denali National Park. What makes the train ride so unique is its glass –domed railcars that provide the passengers with incredible views and photography opportunities. You will also be enjoying the comfort and luxury of a high-end passenger train with a delicious dining service, an open-air platform, restrooms, and a gift display with souvenirs for purchase. Try and book upper level seating in a car since it is often above the tree lines providing better views of the breathtaking landscapes. We aren’t exaggerating when we say this is one of Alaska’s coolest attractions. Book your ride today with your RV rental Fairbanks!

Aurora Ice Museum

The Aurora Ice Museum is located in the Chena Hot Springs Resort and is the largest year round ice environment on the planet. It was created from over 1,000 tons of ice and snow that was all harvested at the resort. The museum was opened in January of 2005 and stays at a cool 25 degrees inside. How do they keep the display cool during the Summer you ask? That is done with the patented absorption chiller, the first of its kind in the world made specifically for this purpose. The museum contains ice workings of a two-story observation tower with a circular staircase, life size jousters on horse back, a polar bear bedroom, a Christmas tree bedroom, a kid’s 2 story fort bedroom, and a Northern Lights room with an ice outhouse made exclusively with their Alaska Diamond and Alaska Marble Ice. Trust us, you haven’t ever experienced anything like the Aurora Ice Museum before. If you miss this place when you rent an RV Fairbanks AK, you're blowing it.
