Franklin Mountains State Park is located within the city limits of El Paso. Despite its location within the city, it is home to abundant wildlife that campers can see during their stay. The RV sites here are for self-contained vehicles, but the rates are very low.
Although the campground at Franklin Mountains State Park doesn’t offer a lot of amenities, it puts you in a great spot to enjoy the outdoors. If you’re traveling with a large group, you’ll appreciate the group camp areas that can accommodate up to 24 people. When you’re done socializing, you can explore the surrounding area, which is home to birds, mule deer, reptiles, and even mountain lions.
“I always enjoy the tranquility and the beauty of the mountains. There are multiple scenic rest areas and picnic tables that lead to a few trails. Just make sure you dress appropriately for wildlife, sun, and heat…If you come through trans-mountain from the westside, you can see a wonderful formation in the shape of an elephant.” – Will, Google review
