While there are no designated campgrounds on Blackwell Island itself, RV camping is available at nearby campgrounds such as Blackwell Island RV Park and Coeur d'Alene RV Resort. Blackwell Island RV Park provides electrical hookups, paved roads, and spacious, level pull-through site. There is free internet and cable television, and a heated swimming pool, a hot tub, horseshoe pits, and a children’s playground are available seasonally. At Coeur d'Alene RV Resort, there are 182 full hookup RV sites with electrical service. The laundry facilities, heated swimming pool, and clubhouse with a full kitchen are available to guests. There are outdoor picnic and barbecue areas, as well as a volleyball court, a children’s playground, and horseshoe pits for recreation.

Dispersed camping is available on nearby BLM and National Forest lands, such as Coeur d'Alene River Wildlife Management Area and Idaho Panhandle National Forest. Be sure to follow all rules and regulations and practice "Leave No Trace" principles when camping in these areas. There are no facilities at these free sites, so visitors should adhere to pack-in and pack-out policies. There is also fishing access and wildlife-viewing opportunities.
