The park is also just 2.5 miles northeast of the town of Sterling. Known for its challenging 18-hole golf course, proximity to various off-road vehicle trails, and trout fishing in the Palisade Reservoir, Palisade State Park has something for everyone. You'll appreciate the myriad things to do and see in this beautiful part of Utah, which is centrally located in the state and only a few hours from Salt Lake City. The Wasatch Range mountains are nearby to the northeast, and Provo Canyon is not very far to the north. Lakeside RV Campground

Lakeside RV Campground is a large campground with access to the Provo River, and anglers enjoy the fishing opportunities afforded by staying at this quiet and restful park. The park has been in operation for 25 years and is family-owned, which is why they take pride in their customer service. There are plenty of shade trees to enjoy and boating and fishing opportunities to investigate, and there's even a River Trail hiking path at the river.

Mountain Valley RV Resort

Mountain Valley RV Resort is in Heber City and affords access to all the available activities in Heber Valley. This is a high-end RV resort where you can take in the wonderful views of the Rocky Mountains. A new area in the park has adults-only features like a clubhouse with a full kitchen, fireplace, pool table, exercise room, and a TV; you also have access to the adults-only pool and pickleball court. For the kids, there are many outdoor play areas and basketball, pickleball, and volleyball courts. Little ones also have access to a family pool.

What to Do at
Palisade State Park

Inside Palisade State Park

There's a wide range of activity options available inside Palisade State Park. Since there's a reservoir inside the park, you can enjoy electric or non-motorized boating activities, fishing and swimming in the lake. You'll find several trout varieties in the lake, as well as goldfish. There are hiking trails both around the lake and farther up on a hillside, and the park is close to the Arapeen OHV Trail. When you're tired of your own cooking, you can order a great meal at the on-site Lakeside Grill restaurant.

Outside Palisade State Park

You also have many choices for fun when you venture outside Palisade State Park. This area of Utah is home to many unique natural habitats. To enjoy shopping and dining, you can travel to the nearby town of Gunnison.

Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is a 600-foot waterfall located at the southern portion of Provo Canyon. The best way to access the falls is inside Bridal Veil Falls State Park, which has an excellent scenic walkway in front of the waterfall. In the winter, the falls attract expert ice climbers from around the world.

Provo Canyon

Provo Canyon, inside the Wasatch Range, offers visitors plenty of choices for rock climbing, biking, and hiking. Bridal Veil Falls is located here as well as the Sundance Mountain Resort skiing lodge, the 2,700-acre, recreational-use Deer Creek Reservoir, and the Provo River.

BYU Museum of Paleontology

The BYU Museum of Paleontology is home to an interesting collection of rock and dinosaur fossils that were collected by Dr. James A. Jensen from various sites in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana over the course of several decades. The Museum is part of BYU, but it's also open to the public.

Seven Peaks Waterpark

The family will love spending a day at the Seven Peaks Waterpark. It is located in Provo and features a large variety of waterslides. It also has a wave pool, a lazy river, hot tubs, and a Tadpole Pond area for the little ones.

Provo River Parkway Trail

The Provo River Parkway Trail is a section of a trail system that begins in Utah Lake State Park and ends at Vivian Park. It's a 15-mile paved trail that's accommodating to walkers, joggers, bikers, hikers, and even skaters. Traveling through woods, neighborhoods, and city parks, the trail runs alongside the Provo River, which courses through Provo Canyon.

How to Get to
Palisade State Park

Palisade State Park is located in the town of Sterling, Utah. It's 133 miles south of Salt Lake City and 91 miles south of the city of Provo. From Nephi, you'll travel east on SR 132 and then go south on U.S. 89 to Sterling, where you'll continue for 2 miles east on Palisade Road to the park entrance.
