You can rent a sand disk to slide down the hills and climb up them to slide down again at this park, which is located about 40 miles northeast of Pecos and 50 miles north of Fort Stockton, Texas. You can even bring your horse to ride along the 800-acre equestrian area and wander across the sand as much as you want because there are no marked trails. You'll want to get up early in the morning to watch the sunrise across the sand.

Head to the visitors' center to cool off and watch the wildlife through the large windows of the building. Then, head back outside to slide down the sand dunes. You can also go hiking anywhere that you want in this park because there are no designated trails. Bring your horses and go for long trail rides in the equestrian area. This park is conveniently located very near Interstate 20 and a great place to spend a day or two relaxing. However, be forewarned that the afternoon temperatures can get hot, so it's important to drink plenty of water.

If you are on Interstate 20, then take exit 86. Get on the service road going south and take it to Park Road 4. Turn right and you will find the park in about a quarter mile.
