Barnwell State Park is located just outside of Blackville and Ashleigh in South Carolina. This location is one of 16 state parks built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Barnwell State Park is the perfect spot to catch some catfish, bass, bream, or crappie. It can get hot and humid in the summer, but the winter temperatures barely break below the freezing point. Some nearby cities you can visit are Hilda and Bamberg, South Carolina.

Barnwell State Park Campgrounds
If you want to stay in the middle of this park, you can rent a site at Barnwell State Park. All the sites have packed gravel lots, and they include electric and water hookups. Four sites can accommodate rigs to up 36 feet in length, and the rest will fit RVs up to 28 feet. A dump station is available for all the sites. Pine Acres Campground
You can find a quiet retreat at Pine Acres Campground. This RV campground is located in Aiken and is a short distance from all the local attractions. There are 43 sites with full hookups, and they can accommodate rigs up to 43 feet in length. The majority of the spaces are pull-through sites. You don't have to worry about any issues since the manager lives on the property. For some added comfort, there are modern restrooms and showers. If you need additional propane, you can purchase it from the office. The daily rate starts at $30 per night, but there are discounts for Good Sam and AARP members.

Barnyard RV Park
Barnyard RV Park is another great campground located in Lexington, South Carolina. If you love the outdoors, then you will want to spend time at this campground. Barnyard has plenty of amenities, including a large clubhouse and a dog park. There are 129 RV sites, and they all feature water, sewage, and electric hookups. You can enjoy plenty of room at this campsite. There is even free cable at every site. The rates start at $38 per night. You can get a reduced rate for any stays longer than a week. There are also discounts for Good Sam, AAA, AARP, and Coachmen members.

Barnwell State Park
Inside Barnwell State Park
Barnwell State Park is known for its water-based fun. There is a small fishing pier where you can try to catch some bluegill or largemouth bass. Boats are allowed on the lake, but you cannot use any gas-powered engines. Unfortunately, this park does not have any boat launches, so be mindful of the limited access if you are towing your boat.
How to Get to
Barnwell State Park
If you are traveling from Aiken, you need to head south on Chesterfield Street and turn right at Park Avenue. You will continue on State Highway 783. Once you reach U.S. 78-E, you need to keep to the right. You will take this stretch of road for about 24 miles. At Reynolds Road, you will take a right until you reach Pleasant Home Road. At this road, you need to make a left onto SC 3-N. You will follow that road for a half mile and turn onto State Park Road. At this point, you can just follow the signs into Barnwell State Park.

Barnwell State Park isn't home to that many wildlife species, but it's known as a good place to spot alligators. Some of the other animals you might see include white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and various other bird species.
Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas as well as one of the camping cabins at Barnwell State Park. However, all pets need to be well-behaved and kept on leashes of no longer than 6 feet.
The climate of Barnwell State Park is warm and somewhat balmy. The temperatures hover between 68 and 91 degrees during summer and between 35 and 61 during winter. There's also regular rain in the area throughout the year.
Most people find spring and autumn to be the most pleasant times to visit the park. During those seasons, it's warm but not particularly hot, and it isn't as humid or rainy as during summer.
The Barnwell State Park Campground contains 25 designated RV campsites, all of which feature water and electrical hookups. Some sites can accommodate RVs up to 36 feet, and the rest can accommodate RVs up to 28 feet.
