Barnwell State Park is located just outside of Blackville and Ashleigh in South Carolina. This location is one of 16 state parks built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. You don't have to worry about any issues since the manager lives on the property. For some added comfort, there are modern restrooms and showers. Barnwell State Park is known for its water-based fun. There is a small fishing pier where you can try to catch some bluegill or largemouth bass. Boats are allowed on the lake, but you cannot use any gas-powered engines. Unfortunately, this park does not have any boat launches, so be mindful of the limited access if you are towing your boat.

How to Get to
Barnwell State Park

If you are traveling from Aiken, you need to head south on Chesterfield Street and turn right at Park Avenue. You will continue on State Highway 783. Once you reach U.S. 78-E, you need to keep to the right. You will take this stretch of road for about 24 miles. At Reynolds Road, you will take a right until you reach Pleasant Home Road. At this road, you need to make a left onto SC 3-N. You will follow that road for a half mile and turn onto State Park Road. At this point, you can just follow the signs into Barnwell State Park.
