Located in the heart of Texas with a population just shy of fifty thousand, you’ll find lots to love in this hidden gem of a city. The climate is hot, as is common in this part of the country. It’s not a big, sprawling venue, and you’ll be able to make the tour in a matter of a couple hours, but it is filled with small town history and is one of the most remarkable small museums in the region. This isn’t a sprawling cave network like Mammoth or Carlsbad, but it’s fantastic, and well worth a visit. Besides, it’s got an interesting discovery story that I won’t spoil for you here. Go check it out, you’ll be glad you did.
Texas probably isn’t the first place you think about when you think of wines and wine country, but the Georgetown Winery is well worth a visit and has some excellent vintages. This won’t take a full day, but is a place you won’t want to miss.
With more than a dozen campgrounds in the area, you’re sure to find somewhere nice to stay. Below, you’ll find some of our favorites. We wouldn’t recommend these if they didn’t have clean restrooms and hot showers, so all three of them have these, and a whole lot more besides.

Georgetown is the “Red Poppy Capital of Texas. Each spring, thousands of them bloom, and the spectacle they create draws tens of thousands of visitors annually, each spring. There’s nothing else quite like it, so if you’re planning a visit anytime in the spring, definitely check it out and bring your camera. It’ll take your breath away.
Held on the first Saturday in April, this fantastic one day event hosts a stunning array of arts, crafts, musical performances and food for your enjoyment. It doesn’t last long, but it is not to be missed if you’re in the area that weekend in a trailer rental Georgetown TX!
Held the second weekend of October each year to celebrate Georgetown’s place as a stop along the Chisholm trail, this is probably one of the coolest things you’ll ever see. A real, honest-to-goodness Longhorn Cattle Drive. If you’ve never experienced one, then plan on being here for this. It’s out of this world.
